The city of Haikou hosted a special seminar on Aug 18 centering on the promotion of integrative development of the cross-straits leisure agriculture industry.
The seminar was held under the guidance of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League Central Committee and the Hainan Provincial Government. Li Yuefeng, vice president of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League Central Committee, and Xiao Jie, head of the United Work Department of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, attended the opening ceremony and addressed the audience.
According to Li, the seminar on leisure agriculture integrative development is a special event launched by the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League Central Committee and the Hainan Provincial Government.
"The seminar is themed on boosting leisure agriculture and promoting construction of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone (Port) and will ramp up the integration of cross-straits leisure agriculture development to a new level, with participants gathering and sharing insights on new development trends and prospects, turning their communication achievements into practice," Li said.
On behalf of the Hainan Provincial Government, Xiao extended his welcome to all guests. He also gave a brief introduction on the progress of building the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Pilot Zone and exploring the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Port with Chinese characteristics, as well as the unique advantages of Hainan's development of leisure agriculture through its ecological environment, geographical location, and government policies.
Xiao noted that the development of leisure agriculture plays an important role in promoting Hainan's tourism development, precision poverty alleviation efforts, and beautiful rural areas construction. He expressed his wishes that all experts and scholars speak freely, making suggestions and contributions to accelerate the construction of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone, as well as boosting leisure agriculture in Hainan.
The seminar received nearly 100 academic research papers from all over the country, and 10 experts and scholars in cross-straits leisure agriculture industry delivered speeches at the event. In addition, guests from Taiwan were also invited on inspection tours to demonstrative zones for leisure agriculture and beautiful rural villages in the Hainan cities and counties of Haikou, Wenchang, and Chengmai.
