Hainan will host the 10th China International Creative Design Week from Aug 16 to 18 at Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center in Haikou, according to a press conference held on Aug 12.

Fifteen countries, including Russia and Japan, as well as 26 Chinese mainland provinces, Hong Kong, and Taiwan are set to participate in the three-day event.

China International Creative Design Week was launched by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in 2010. In 2013 the event settled in Hainan and has been successfully hosted on the island province five times, according to Chen Hongliang, deputy head of the CCPIT Hainan Committee.

According to Chen, the event aims to establish a communication and cooperation platform to promote the commercialization of national creative design product achievements, as well as contribute to the construction of Hainan Free Trade Zone and Free Trade Port.

The main activities will include a cultural and creative industry development forum aiming to bridge creative designs with cultural and tourism intellectual properties, an international innovation and entrepreneurship competition whose preliminary contest was attended by 5,000 Chinese and overseas students from 126 schools across China, as well as a tourism product fair featuring works by designers and enterprises from 11 Chinese provinces and 10 overseas countries such as Russia, South Korea, and Ghana.
