China's island province of Hainan had three enterprises listed in China's Top 500 Foreign Trade Enterprises 2018, which was released on Aug 9 in Haikou.
The three companies were Hainan Airlines, Sinopec (Hong Kong) Hainan Petroleum, and Hainan Yisheng Petrochemical.
Apart from releasing the list, Hainan held a special session in which officials from Hainan's international economic development agency introduced the province's investment environment and its business promotion plans.
In 2018, the total trade volume of China's Top 500 Foreign Trade Enterprises accounted for 35.1 percent of the country's total foreign trade. Hainan witnessed a total volume of 84.9 billion yuan ($12 billion) in foreign trade, an increase of 20.8 percent compared with 2017.
ASEAN, the United States, and the European Union remained the top three trading partners of Hainan province. The foreign trade trend of steady and positive growth in Hainan has been continuously consolidated as new development potentials emerge.
