Shen Xiaoming, governor of Hainan province and chairman of the Sixth Asian Beach Games Organizing Committee, paid a visit to Sanya and inspected the city's work on preparations for the inter-continental event.
The Asian Beach Games is the first inter-continental sports competition held in Hainan province. Sanya should make solid preparatory work, as well as promote the city's construction management and internationalization level through the games to show the world a beautiful image of Hainan, Shen said.
Shen toured Sanya Rainbow Square and Sanya International Sports Industrial Park to inspect the construction of competition venues.
Later on, the governor held a special meeting to hear reports on the preparations and work status for the Asian Beach Games, covering market development and publicity efforts, construction of competition venues, urban renewal and upgrading, internationalization level improvement, as well as other works concerning team building, the torch relay, and news promotion.
Shen accentuated the great importance of the inter-continental event to Hainan province. He called for Sanya to focus on the key aspects of the construction of the stadium and supporting facilities, reception arrangements, urban transportation, bolstering of the city's image, personnel training, emergency response capabilities, publicity and promotion, as well as market operation to ensure the success of the event next year.
