Fifth batch of Hainan free trade zone construction projects break ground

The fifth batch of construction projects in Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone started construction or reached contracts on July 18 in Haikou.

Ninety-six projects, with a total investment of 37.2 billion yuan ($ 5.4 billion), broke ground and 39 projects, with a total investment of 30.9 billion yuan, signed contracts on the day.

Among the projects under construction, there are 45 with a total investment between 100 million yuan and 1 billion yuan, as well as 40 with investment under 100 million yuan, covering the fields of industrial development, infrastructure upgrading, and livelihood projects.

Jin Yueliang, general manager of the southwest headquarters of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), said that the company has established Hainan Headquarters and corresponding investment corporations. CRCC will introduce new investment models and construction concepts in order to take part in the development of Hainan.

Since November 28, 2018, Hainan has held signing and ground-breaking  ceremonies for five batches of construction projects, encompassing 554 projects with 248.5 billion yuan investment in total, more than a half of which is on industrial development.

Fu Xuanchao, head of the Hainan Development and Reform Commission, said that the commission would regularly sort out the demands of enterprises, as well as create a fair and just business environment. The commission, together with relevant departments, will work tirelessly to attract investment and expand the scope of the market to build and boost the industries.
