The "Sanya Activity Day" of the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition was officially launched on July 23, featuring a number of activities including art and intangible cultural heritage performances, as well as promotions that display Sanya's special tourism culture and urban construction achievements.
The special day started with a tourism promotional video which enabled attendees to the horticultural exhibition a chance to catch a glimpse of the charm of the city. It spotlighted intangible cultural heritages of the Li and Miao ethnic groups, which are vivid representations of Sanya's folk customs and culture. Interactive activities were also arranged where visitors were offered free or discounted tickets to the city's hotspots and treated to tasty fruits and Hainan local specialties.

According to government officials who spoke at the launch ceremony of "Sanya Activity Day", the city ranks first among the four major tourist cities in China - Sanya, Weihai, Hangzhou, and Xiamen. The city also boasts the most beautiful coastal scenery of Hainan Island. It is a central city and transportation hub in the southern part of Hainan province, as well as also one of the most important foreign trade ports on the southeast coast of China.
During the International Labor Day holiday, Sanya hosted 237,700 tourists, with Russia, Thailand, and South Korea being the top three countries where foreign tourists are from. Its scenic spots and rural tourist spots saw a total of 471,600 visits. All these figures indicate that the rich tourism resources in the city are attractive to tourists from home and abroad.

"I have been to Sanya for travel, which left a great impression on me. The blue sea, the clear sky, the sun, the beach, and the scenery of Sanya are pleasant. The tourism resources are very rich, and I will definitely go again next time," said a tourist surnamed Hu from Anhui province.
Currently, Sanya is striving to contribute to the construction of the Hainan Pilot Free Trade Zone and Free Trade Port with Chinese characteristics, cultivate and develop new tourism-oriented businesses such as duty-free shopping, cruise yachts, convention and exhibition, wedding tourism, and healthcare, as well as plan to develop and introduce various top international events.
The city also invited local business representatives from various fields to the "Sanya Activity Day" in Beijing to showcase and promote their new achievements, new products and projects, as well as seek business cooperation with counterparts in Beijing and lure more investment to Sanya.
