The ambassador crew of the Sanya includes 41 males and 19 females, coming from 14 countries and regions. Six of them are round-the-world sailors. During the training month, the crew lived and worked on the Clipper 70-foot sailboat. Through a series of intensive training, they mastered the structure of the large sailboat, sailing terminology, the use of emergency rescue equipment, and other sailing skills.

The 26-year-old captain of Sanya Seumas Kellock, from Edinburgh, Scotland, is the youngest among the 11 captains who will participate in the race 2019-20. Also a crew member in the competition last season, he has amassed experience with a sailing distance of 50,000 nautical miles. He said that he had been to Sanya before, where there were fascinating beaches, beautiful sunshine, and many tourist attractions.

He expressed wishes that his family and friends can come to Sanya and enjoy the charm of this tropical paradise during the race stop, with the implementation of more opening-up measures in Hainan.
