Hungarian grandmaster tops Danzhou International Chess Tournament

Hungarian player Rapport Richard ranked the first at the Danzhou International Chess Tournament in Danzhou, a city located on southern China's island province of Hainan on Sunday.

Hungarian player Rapport Richard, who beat Chinese player Wei Yi on the last day of the match, becomes the second foreign player to win the title.

Chinese player Yu Yinyi and Wei Yi had the same score of 4 points and took the second and third place respectively.

Eight players from five countries competed at the Danzhou International Chess Tournament in Danzhou City. The event offers a total of 60,000 U.S. dollars in prize money.

Danzhou city is located in the northwest of Hainan Island. It is known predominantly as a tourist hotspot due to the tropical climate and stunning beaches.
