A two-day food culture festival for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival came to a conclusion in Haikou on May 26.
The festival aimed to display traditional food culture, advance Hainan's all-for-one tourism construction, and develop Hainan's characteristic and efficient tropical agriculture.

Zongzi, a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in reed leaves, sold well and was in high demand at the festival. The cash generated by various kinds of famous Hainan zongzi reached 425,000 yuan ($61,553.17).
Having been previously held twice before, the festival has become an important platform for Hainan to promote its zongzi industry and for people to purchase the traditional Chinese food.
In recent years, Hainan has organized a series of production exhibition and brand marketing activities before the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 7 this year. They have promoted characteristic zongzi brands and local supply-side structural reform.
