A group of government officials from South China's Hainan province started their study trip in Xiong'an New Area, Hebei province on May 26.
The delegates, led by Liu Cigui, secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, and Shen Xiaoming, governor of Hainan, were there to learn the new area's innovative development methods, which can help Hainan's construction of a pilot free trade zone and free trade port.
In the exhibition center, the delegates were impressed by the new area's future blueprint, its pioneering practices in applying digital technology and smart city concepts, as well as its achievements in ecological restoration.
Playing key roles in China's national strategies, Hainan and Hebei are both embracing hard-won opportunities, said Liu Cigui.
He noted that Hainan should refer to Hebei's experience in long-term planning, quality development, and environmental protection.
According to Liu, Hainan should deepen its cooperation with Hebei by sharing development strategies on a regular basis, exchanging experience in balancing industrial clusters and urban development, coordinating regional development in fundamental facilities and other public services, as well as adapting Hebei's experience in ecological restoration and environmental protection.
On the other hand, Hebei will follow Hainan's footsteps in developing an international tourism island, pilot free trade zone (port), and maritime economy, noted Wang Dongfeng, secretary of the CPC Hebei Provincial Committee.
The visiting group will continue their trip in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
