Hainan signed memoranda of cooperation with Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia and Sri Lanka at the China National Convention Center in Beijing on April 25 to deepen industrial cooperation during the regional cooperation sub forum of the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

The sub forum witnessed signings of 14 cooperation agreements and memoranda covering sister city construction, cultural exchanges, and economic cooperation.

The memorandum of cooperation between Hainan and Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia was about deepening construction of a coconut standardized planting demonstration park, and the memorandum of understanding with Sri Lanka was related to tropical agricultural development and enhancing additional value of the planting industry.

Shen Danyang, vice governor of Hainan province, introduced Hainan's achievements in actively promoting pragmatic and efficient international cooperation with countries and regions along the Belt and Road. As an important strategic point of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Hainan will continue to cooperate with these areas and warmly greet enterprises around the world to invest in Hainan.

The 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation was jointly sponsored by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Beijing municipal people's government.

During the period, representatives of the participating countries shared experiences and achievements in regional communication, as well as looked forward to future prospects and opportunities. Each governor fully appreciated the results of local cooperation and further strengthened exchanges among countries by the initiative. All the local governments around the world will strengthen communication and cooperation in the principle of co-consulting, co-constructing and co-sharing. They will continue to develop friendships and city relations in a positive, pragmatic, and step-by-step manner to jointly promote the Belt and Road Initiative.
