The Westerdam cruise ship from the internationally renowned Holland America Line arrived in Sanya on Jan 31, becoming the first international cruise ship to visit Sanya in 2019.
The cruise set off from Alaska, US and carried 1,855 passengers from countries such as the US, Australia, the Netherlands and Japan. It is the third largest ship in the Holland America Line and can hold up to 82,348 tons. Passengers are provided with first-rate facilities and a variety of recreational activities.
As a tropical seaside tourist city, Sanya has a pleasant climate and beautiful natural scenery to help develop its cruise tourism indsutry. It has attracted more tourists from home and abroad as cruise trips have become increasingly popular in the city since 2006. It is a wonderful way to share Sanya’s charming tropical scenery and colorful tourist attractions with the world.
According to Tang Sixian, a researcher for the Sanya municipal commission of tourism development, Sanya had better develop some cruise ships in 2019. Significant support will be offered to tourism-related enterprises looking to develop cruise products and provide safe, comfortable and pleasant cruise trips for tourists.
It has been reported that two more large cruise ships will arrive in Sanya on Feb 4 and 6.
