The Wenbi Peak Filial Piety Cultural Park, a large theme park built by the Hainan Wenbi Peak Pangu Cultural Tourism Zone, opened to the public on Jan 24.

The park, covering an area of 40 mu (2.67 hectares), is located in the main area of the Wenbi Peak Pangu Cultural Tourism Zone in Ding’an county, Hainan province. Development of the park took two years and cost over 3 million yuan ($447,700).

The park is divided into two main parts: a memorial archway and 24 sculptures made of granite. Every sculpture depicts a scene from an ancient filial piety story, helping visitors better understand the culture around filial piety and creating a rich cultural atmosphere.

Yu Chongwu, manager of the tourism zone, said at the opening ceremony that filial piety is the foundation of social morality and culture. As the saying goes, filial piety is the most important of all virtues, it is the foundation of one's life, and people today can draw lessons from their ancestors. Yu hoped that more people would begin to realize the importance of filial piety.

Forty students from Haikou Fuxi Primary School recited The Classic of Filial Piety at the opening ceremony for the park. The performance was well-received by the audience.
