The 2019 Haikou International New Energy Vehicle Show began at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center in Haikou on Jan 10.

The four-day event will focus on the new-energy automobile industry and feature over 20 related activities.

A total of 197 vehicles from home and abroad were displayed over an area of 50,000 square meters, including many well-known brands such as Volkswagen, Lincoln, Volvo, Benz, Audi, Toyota, Honda, and Infiniti.

The annual event received special support from the China Machinery Industry Federation and the Haikou municipal people's government. Joint sponsors included the Automotive Sub Council of the China Council of the Promotion of International Trade, the Automotive Sub Council of the China Chamber of International Commerce, and China International Exhibition Center Group Corporation.

Hainan is the first province in China to prohibit selling oil-powered vehicles. It plans to convert entirely to new energy vehicles by 2030.
