The opening ceremony for the 10th China (Hainan) International Marine Industry Expo in Haikou on Jan 3 attracted over 800 attendees.
More than 120 government agencies, research institutes, enterprises and public institutions involved in the marine industry displayed their innovative development achievements at the expo.
About 20 specialists and scholars discussed the theme of innovation and developing Hainan's marine industry against the backdrop of strengthening reform and opening-up.

Sub-forums, round table discussions and high-end closed-door meetings will also be organized to encourage more cities to join in China's marine industrial development, the development of a marine environmentally friendly society, the development of a strong marine economy in Hainan province, and the implementation of the maritime power strategy.
The expo was jointly sponsored by Hainan's department of natural resources and planning, the department of commerce, the department of science and technology, the Haikou municipal people's government, and the Chinese Society for Oceanography.
