Online turnover of Hainan's agricultural products broke the current record, hitting about 42.67 billion yuan ($6.22 billion), at a major activity of the 2018 China (Hainan) International Winter Trade Fair of Tropical Agricultural Products, which promoted online transaction and professional purchasing group negotiation.
The ceremony was held at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center in Haikou on Dec 12. It saw transactions of 6.05 million tons of tropical fruits and winter vegetables and 1.02 million live pigs.
The event is an important measure in implementing the rural revitalization strategy, developing tropical high-efficiency agriculture, building a national tropical modern agricultural base and promoting agricultural and rural modernization. It also responded to the appeal for constructing the China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone and a free trade port with Chinese characteristics.
This year's China (Hainan) International Winter Trade Fair of Tropical Agricultural Products opened on Dec 12 and will conclude on Dec 16. Over 6,000 travelling merchants from more than 2,000 enterprises in 28 domestic provinces and cities, as well as 34 countries and regions, took part. Based on 20 years of experience, the fair has become a significant platform for promoting agricultural communication and cooperation among countries along the Belt and Road and the Maritime Silk Road.
