The opening ceremony for the first Hainan International Film Festival will be held in Sanya on Dec 11, with movie stars like Nicolas Cage, Irene Wan, Kris Wu, Zhang Zhen, Tao Hong, Jiang Wenli and Zhu Yilong slated to appear.
The eight-day festival consists of opening and closing ceremonies, a competition section, international film exhibitions, forums, and promotional conferences for movies to be released in 2019.
The film exhibition will feature 92 movies from over 30 countries and regions, including the world premiere of Uncle and House, The Photographer and Vanishing Facial Makeup, as well as the Asian premiere of Winter Ridge, Night Accident, The Swan, Handle with Care, Hello, Rain! and Yantai Mountain.
Ren Zhonglun, chairman of Shanghai Film Group, and Jim Rygiel, producer of The Lord of The Rings, among others, will share their insights into the future of filmmaking, while movie tycoons such as French actress Isabelle Huppert and Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan will discuss the future of the global film industry.
Additionally, large movie companies like Alibaba Pictures, Wanda Cinema, and China Film Group Corporation, will promote films which are due to hit the big screen during Spring Festival.
