The 2018 Hainan International Kitesurfing Open will begin on Dec 8 at Holiday Beach in Haikou.
Nearly 100 contestants from home and abroad will participate, competing in five groups for a total reward of 50,000 yuan ($7,275.69).
As one of the main events of Hainan's 2018 water sports season, the competition aims to increase sports tourism and promote the development of demonstration areas for national fitness and sports tourism.
The competition is sponsored by the General Administration of Sport of China and the Hainan Provincial People's Government. Organizers include the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sport of Hainan Province, the China Water Sports Administration, the Haikou municipal people's government and the Hainan Yachting Association.
