Hainan province received 3.78 million tourists during the National Day holiday, generating a total revenue of 6.88 billion yuan ($996.8 million) and representing a year-on-year growth of 7.66 percent and 13.54 percent respectively.

According to statistics, 1.71 million tourists visited Hainan's A-level scenic spots. The average occupancy rate of hotel rooms in Haitang Bay area reached 78.62 percent in the first three days of the holiday.

From Oct 1 to 7, many people chose Hainan as the destination of their holiday, with tourism parks, complexes, resorts and scenic spots attracting a large number of high-end tourists.

Compared with previous years, Hainan's rural tourism has become one of the important engines of the province's tourism economy.

Typical tourist areas also performed well, with Haikou's Qilou Old Street having become one of the best places for visitors to enjoy Hainan culture and taste local cuisine.
