The museum covers about 3,000 sq m. It has an exterior color of jasper. Its current theme uses pictures, multimedia, green plants and specimens of birds to display concepts of Haikou's water governance and the realities of the city's wetland.

The theme will change at regular intervals. A scientific display of Haikou's wetland will be presented in October.
