Forty journalists from 30 media groups in the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong on a special economic zone media trip arrived in Hainan on July 25.

During the four day journey in the island province, they will visit a Taiwan-funded enterprise and an employment and entrepreneurship base in Haikou. They will travel to Haosheng village and Soong's Ancestral Home in Wenchang, and the Hainan Binglanggu (Betelnut Valley) Li and Miao Cultural Heritage Park in Baoting. The Paddy Field National Park, the Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Atlantis resort and the Haitang Bay Duty Free Shopping Center in Sanya are also on their list.

The media trip is sponsored by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and the All-China Journalists Association. Reporters from 14 news units in the Chinese mainland, 15 in Taiwan and one in Hong Kong are conducting on-site visits in the special economic zones that led to the reform and opening up, including Shenzhen and Hainan.

Media trips for journalists across the Taiwan Straits started in 1992 and so far 17 have been successfully completed. The mode is welcomed in press circles and has become an influential brand for information exchange.
