South China's Hainan province is getting ready for the upcoming summer tourism boom with various products being on offer, Hainan Daily reported on June 27.

The tropical island earned wide attention from global participants for its rich tourism resources, cultural and creative industries and gastronomy when the province's tourism development commission was part of the sixth Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo from April 27 to 29.

In addition to setting up consultancy centers Hainan has established cooperative relations with several travel agencies across the country, and intends to further promote its local tourism industry.

"There will be a tourism boom during the upcoming summer vacation," according to Huang Huihui, general manager of a Hainan-based international travel agency. "And Hainan province has been diversifying tourist products and improving local service quality, which will offer travelers a good choice."

Well-known for its beach appeal, the island is also a paradise for tourists who are fond of aquatic amusement activities. The newly-opened Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark in Sanya -- Asia's first -- offers people at all ages 35 entertainment attractions all year round.

"People can take the challenge of starting from a height of 25.1 m and at an angle of 75 degrees, and falling through a tunnel surrounded by sharks in just three to four seconds," said a worker at the resort. "Taking the challenge has become a hit on the short video platform, Douyin."

Hainan province is home to many ethnic groups, with the Li and Miao people particularly prominent on the island. And their distinctive ethic cultures, folk customs and colorful activities will prove a big draw for those who prefer to experience the charms of local culture.

The village-themed tourism industry has been flourishing in recent years on the island; the international tourism destination has been transformed from a small fishing village.

Various outdoor activities catering to groups of different ages and interests are scheduled, such as camping out and holding barbecue parties in the rainforest, going sailing, and picking fruits in the orchard.

With reasonable prices and pleasing amenities, the cruise trips are highly popular among tourists, especially for family tours this year, according to an employee at Hainan Kangtai Travel Co.

As the cruises are one-stop trips which incorporate food, accommodation, shopping and amusement facilities, they save a lot of troubles for travelers who can relax and enjoy the sea views and breezes.

As Hainan keeps upgrading the structure of tourism products and improving facilities and amenities, as well as service quality, it will greet participants with more and more wonderful travel experiences.
