Wenchang, home to China's fourth satellite launch center in tropical Hainan province, has been approved as the site of an international center of aerospace-themed tourism, according to the Wenchang planning committee on June 25.

Covering a planned area of 10,000 mu (666.67 hectares), the tourist center will be located adjoining the intersection of Wenqing Avenue and Hangtian Avenue, and will be constructed with high standards and for comprehensive functions.

The project is set to be a brand image of the Wenchang international aerospace city, incorporating exotic-style shopping streets, hotels, restaurants, apartments, a sports medicine clinic and access to the railway station, coach station and bus terminal.

In addition, a space-themed park, space-themed museum, library, art gallery and an incubation base for the space industry will also be set up in the area, according to an official of the project.

Presently, the project has attracted investment from enterprises at home and abroad, including framework agreements signed with corporations from Singapore and Thailand, Hainan Daily reported.
