Experts calculated a rice yield of 1,065.3 kg per mu at the organic top coating test demonstration field of the Sanya Rice National Park on May 22, which broke the record for Hainan's rice yield per unit area.

The rice variety is a high-quality soft grain researched and developed by the group of Yuan Longping who is the Father of Hybrid Rice. The test demonstration field is jointly managed by the China National Hybrid Rice R&D Center, Zhonglong Baishunyuan (Beijing) Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Co, Ltd, Heilongjiang Baishunyuan Modern Agriculture Group, and the Heilongjiang Jiaze Complex Enzyme Technical Research Center.

According to expert group leader Meng Weidong, a researcher at the Hainan Academy of Agricultural Sciences Rice Research Institute, the breakthrough is significant as the ambient air temperature in Hainan is high and the rice growth season is short.

After on-site investigation, the panel praised the test demonstration field for its high lodging-resistance capability and yielding ability and agreed that prospects are good for the application and promotion of the water saving, manure conserving and labor saving organic rice top coating technology.
