More than 1,900 foreigners from about 70 countries have received a Foreigner's Work Permit and been employed in Hainan since April 1 last year, according to data from the Hainan Foreign Experts Affairs Bureau.

Coming from countries such as the US, Russia, the UK, Canada, France, South Korea, Malaysia, India and Thailand, they mainly work in fields of science, education, accommodation, catering, tourism, commercial services, and information technology.

Ricardo from Italy has a Chinese name, Jin Kaiduo. He has studied and worked in China for seven years and now acts as a guest relations manager at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Sanya. He said that he likes Sanya's natural scenery and local customs and practices. He has realized his dream to live and work in the coastal city. He also mentioned that Hainan’s new visa-free policy benefitting people in 59 countries has brought great growth potential to the tourist market in the province.
