Hainan bamboo pole dance performance breaks Guinness World Record

The large-scale bamboo pole dance performed at the Haikou Wuyuanhe Stadium in Haikou on April 28 set a Guinness World Record as a special celebration of Hainan's 30th birthday. 

A total of 11,999 people in 600 groups performed for six minutes. They were performers from 19 cities and counties province wide, including students from 36 universities and middle schools in Haikou. 

The performance was honored as the "largest-scale bamboo pole dance" by Guinness World Records. The number of participants was recognized as 11,914, which broke the record of 10,736 performers achieved by India in 2010. 

Over 15,000 spectators witnessed the historic moment on site.
