The English website of Hainan province (http://www.ehainan.gov.cn) was launched on Feb 2 to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the province and Hainan provincial special economic zone. The launching is a significant moment in those celebrations which will come to a height in April. Sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, the site is expected to become a greeting and business card for Hainan in international communications and play an active part in accelerating its international development.
The page design of the website integrates worldwide popular designs with local features, with HD slideshows of unique Hainan elements such as the sea, beaches and coconut trees making a strong visual impact. Social and economic news, and information on tourism services, are its core elements and are especially highlighted.
The portal offers seven first-level columns, namely “About”, “Government”, “Media Center”, “Travel”, “Business”, “Culture” and “Services”, and 31 second-level columns providing up-to-date news about the country’s only tropical province developing as an international tourism destination, as well as in-depth knowledge about it as a place to do business, travel or live. The website will help people around the world understand Hainan in a convenient and effective way.
